Summer Research Program for NYC Secondary Science Teachers

The primary aim of this Program is to provide New York City secondary school science teachers with sustained hands-on experience in scientific research so they can better understand the practice of science, and better transmit to their students and fellow teachers a feeling for its practice.

The Mid-Atlantic Eisenhower Consortium for Mathematics and Science Education

The Mid-Atlantic Eisenhower Consortium for Mathematics and Science Education has just redesigned its WWW server, which now includes information and resources not only on Technology/Telecommunications, but on a host of other critical topics in math/science education. The consortium was initiated in 1992 and awarded a five-year continuation grant in 1995. The consortium program is designed to help meet the need for a systemic approach to school reform which can improve achievement in mathematics and science &emdash; one of our national educational goals. The Mid-Atlantic Eisenhower Consortium serves Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

The NCSU Program on Science, Technology and Society Home Page

The NCSU Program on Science, Technology & Society Home Page has been expanded, and now includes 157 links to STS-related information sources. Several of these additions are to international information sites, as well as to science, technology, and culture sites. The PSTS Home Page also has links to 32 university-based STS program Home Pages, including 21 US programs.

National Science Foundation

The National Science Foundation is an independent agency of the Federal government that was established in 1950 by an Act of Congress. The agency's mission is to promote the progress of science and engineering.

The New Jersey Networking Infrastructure in Education

The New Jersey Networking Infrastructure in Education (NJ-NIE) Project is a national demonstration project to promote effective applications of Internet in K-12 mathematics, science and technology classrooms. Project implementation is integrated into New Jersey's Statewide Systemic Initiative (NJ SSI) through a National Science Foundation grant to Stevens Institute of Technology.

The goal of the NIE testbed is to learn more about effective networking strategies and to develop a significant component of a networking infrastructure which:

  1. enhances student learning
  2. empowers teachers
  3. supports statewide systemic school reform
